PrevInf – Capacitating Asia’s Nursing Students on Innovative and Sustainable Prevention and Control of Healthcare-associated Infections
Introduction to PrevInf Project
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme with the reference 618396-EPP-1-2020-PT-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, the PrevInf project aims to promote the best nursing practices related to the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial management (AMM). The PrevInf project consortium objective is to improve capacitating nursing students in Asia (Cambodia and Vietnam) related to the prevention and control of HAIs and AMM.
Our goal is to encourage global cooperation in this field and share the findings of the PrevInf Project. To achieve the main objective, the PrevInf consortium will optimize the nursing curricula of Asian partners higher education institutions (HEI), within the scope of the prevention and control of HAIs and AMM, through the assessment and updating of learning objectives, curriculum content, educational methods and available tools, as well as the involvement of relevant stakeholders (students, nurse educators, clinical nurses, nurse preceptors) in an active design process to develop the PrevInf model. This pedagogical model will be supported by research studies to be developed by the consortium and on existing scientific evidence, adapted to the reality of each participating country, integrating the best practices of prevention and control of HAIs, as well as the presentation of simulation scenarios based on practice, developed for nursing students and teachers, as an innovative educational tool.
In addition, the PrevInf model will introduce in its premises the development of the entrepreneurial spirit of young nursing students, reinforcing their role in the design of innovative solutions that respond to the social challenge of the prevention and control of HAIs and the AMM in Asia. The PrevInf model and the simulation scenarios will be compiled in a digital book, the PrevInf E-book, which will contain the guidelines of the best practices for the prevention and control of HAIs and the latest AMM.
Integration PrevInf Nursing Program
Integrate the outcome of PrevInf course in nursing curriculum both associate degree in nursing (ADN) and bachelor science in nursing (BSN) at 2nd year and 3rd year which is 1 credit (30 hours for simulation scenarios). Totally, there are 12 simulation scenarios for 3 semesters which is 4 simulation scenarios in each semester.
