I. Description
Management is the process by which organisational goals are attained through integrating human activity. It is largely about people and human endeavor. The major develops and critically examines management and strategic practices within organisations to generate solutions. The management major will prepare students for a career in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
II. Learning Objectives
Associate degree programs can help to develop effective interpersonal skills, foster decision-making and entrepreneurial thinking, and familiarize you with diverse business environments. The skills you develop can be applied to areas such as personnel management, organizational behavior, production, international and small business, healthcare, government agencies, financial institutions, telecommunications, hospitality, and education.
III. Learning Outcomes
Students graduated from the program will be expected to have knowledge and practical skills in:
- demonstrating an ability to apply general management know-how in practical business situations.
- drawing upon specialist know-how, deploying concepts and sources incisively and with sensitivity.
- demonstrating skills in interdisciplinary analysis, drawing upon different empirical sources, analytical perspectives and sub-disciplines within management studies.
- demonstrating an ability to conduct methodological research into corporate and management issues, which may relate to overall strategy or a specific management function, that require familiarity with a range of data, research sources and appropriate methodologies.
- being able to communicate effectively and convincingly on a factual supported basis, both orally and in writing.
